More than 10,000 people turned out to the second edition of the Overlove Music Festival 2013 at Silverlake Vineyard in Pattaya happy to help the organisers celebrate their choice of a considerably more attractive artist line-up.
Despite leaving Bangkok in plenty of time, our small group hit serious traffic jams on the road to Pattaya on the first day of the long weekend, arriving at the venue feeling hot and more than a little bothered. Cold drinks soon restored good humour and we joined the already large crowd taking photos of each other against the bucolic backdrop.
Indian artist Rimi Nique was the first out on stage belting out covers of “If I Ain’t Got You”, “The Only Way Out”, “Sunday”, “Crush On Life”, “Only Love”, “Avatar Love” and “Invisible”.
Thai artist Peet Peera followed with a set of poignant songs that included “Jeb Kwa Jaak” and “Kwam Rak Dee Dee Yoo Thi Nai”. Next up was Thee Chaiyadej who offered an acoustic set with songs such as “Fun Pai” and “Silicon”.
Watcharawalee had the audience dancing along to a luk thung medley while young pianist Tor Saksit drew loud screams, both for his solo set and his duet with Two Poptorn on another medley.
Be Peerapat showcased his powerful vocals on the hits “Pood Trong Trong” and “Kwam Jing Nai Jai” before handing over to Ben Chalathit for “Thi Wang” and “I Will Survive”.
The audience stood up and danced to sets by ETC, Scrubb, and Burin before rocking with Blackhead on “Ying To Ying Suay”, “Hetphol” and “Pieng Krasib”.
They were followed by a procession of artists signed with the Smallroom label.
Mild brought the curtain down on the festival, drawing applause as they performed heart-felt songs like “Dao”, “Love Sick”, “Rak Rao Mai Thao Kan” and “Unlovable”.
