Guy Fawkes was no freedom fighter

It is utterly irrelevant for the anti-Thaksin brigade to use an image of Guy Fawkes to symbolise their movement.

They have no idea who Guy Fawkes was. They probably think Guy Fawkes was the protagonist in the 2005 movie “V for Vendetta”. He was not.
Guy Fawkes (1570-1606) was a Catholic fanatic who, among others, plotted to blow up the English parliament to kill members of both Houses along with King James I, to protest against Protestant rule. He symbolised terror and treason, not freedom and democracy.
You want to liberate Thailand from Thaksin, don’t you? The icon that best suits your mission is our hero King Taksin (1734-82). He liberated Siam from Burmese occupation in 1767 and unified the country after it was broken up into factions and ruled by various warlords. Without him we might be wearing a sarong and speaking Burmese right now.
Leave Guy Fawkes to Westerners. We have our own hero.
