More evidence to confirm the fact

I'd like to add one source to the sources Dean Barrett used (Letters, June 7) to back up his claim that Mohammad married a nine-year-old girl.
That claim has been confirmed by Karen Armstrong (“Mohammad: A Biography of the Prophet”) who is not only a historian and prolific writer on religious issues, but is an outspoken apologist for Islam. Even here she tries to apologise for Mohammad by saying he waited for the girl to reach puberty before consummating the marriage, which still suggests she was underage.
I find it bizarre that Armstrong – a former nun – wouldn’t ask what sort of man would have that kind of interest in a nine-year-old girl, even if he didn’t consummate the marriage until she reached adulthood.
