Just to make absolutely sure that you’re never accused of animal neglect, the Animal-Go-Round boutique in the K Village community mall has matching outfits for you and your dog.
Of course you’ll have to ask your dog if he honestly likes wearing the clothes and accessories.
In charge are three siblings from the Bunditdumrongkul family, which has long operated a jewellery factory and textile mill. Animal-Go-Round stocks a collection of attractive earth-toned apparel and ornate costume jewellery for humans and colourful, handmade props for pooches.
“We opened five years ago,” says Vasit, a Silpakorn University jewellery-design grad. “Everything comes from our passions. We’ve raised all sorts of animals since we were kids and we wanted to have a lifestyle shop for pet lovers.”
The shop is decorated with natural-pine furniture set against white walls on a bare concrete floor. The gear is casual but made of top-quality material and the clothes are well cut, mostly in soft cotton and linen so they’re comfortable even when it’s hot.
“In design I pay more attention to matching colours, inspired by the fashions in Japan, where I studied as an exchange student,” Vasit says.
There are striped T-shirts, lace vests, two-tone denim shirts and skirts, linen jacket suits, shorts, pants, cotton-sack dresses and scarves, and canvas hats and handbags imported from South Korea.
The jewellery corner offers gold-enamelled rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces made from brass and silver. There are glimpses of flowers and animals and trimmings of crystals, pearls, beads, wood, shells and ceramics.
Meanwhile your puppy is sniffing around the lovely shirts, skirts, shorts and even evening dresses adorned with polka dots, flowers and stripes, starting from size one to six.
“We used the same high-quality textiles as in the human outfits but keep the designs playful and cute, though everything is quite practical for a pet,” Vasit points out.
You can also pick up a collar or leash for your best friend – and a backpack, hat and carry bag, all from South Korea.
Vasit will be showing his latest creations at the Thailand International Dog Show at Impact Arena from June 27 to 30.
