John Patterson describes the Akeyuth murder investigation as a “farrago” and invites readers to enlighten him on the due process of law in Thailand.
Here were have yet another Westerner talking down Thailand, and displaying a sense of cultural superiority by telling us how things would be handled so differently in Britain. No doubt that is true, but so what? The Thais have their own way of organising their affairs, and I doubt they would wish to change that, just to fall into line with a foreign judicial system.
Regarding Chalerm’s remarks, it is worth noting that one that is largely ignored by the media, perhaps because it doesn’t suit the “motor-mouth” narrative. He has challenged those citing a political murder motive to come forward with evidence and has promised to fully investigate any such evidence. Is he sincere? I have no idea, but as far as I am aware there has been no response from the conspiracy theorists.
