To solve corruption in Thailand, it takes no less than the unwavering determination of the country’s top government leader.
Take, for example, the government’s controversial rice-price guarantee scheme. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra should come clean by being honest and straightforward about it.
This scheme has become a
serious problem. Thailand’s competitiveness in the world’s rice markets is slipping rapidly. Hundreds of billions are being wasted and more and more rice in our stocks is becoming unsellable and rotting.
The prime minister should show us the facts and figures that she has. She should not challenge critics to present proof of her government’s possible wrongdoing. It is her express duty to run a clean government.
