Known for its endless creativity, original pattern motif and striking runway shows, Issue by Bhubawit “Roj” Krittapholnara was recently in Singapore for the 2013 edition of the Asia Fashion Exchange.
The annual event regularly introduces emerging designers and labels from around the world and is a joint private and public sector initiative involving the Textile and Fashion Federation of Singapore (TaFF), Mercury Marketing and Communications and government agencies, International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and SPRING Singapore.
Issue’s “Summer Sweet” collection was inspired by the traditional Thai sweets mentioned in King Rama II’s famous poem, which pays testimony to the Thai art of living.
Rich in colour and featuring motifs of the sweet treats along with some beautiful butterflies, both the men’s and women’s collections brought freshness and life to the catwalk and enhanced the label’s reputation for fun. Matching blazers and shorts or skinny trousers came in pink, green, blue, and yellow while cocktail dresses were emphasised by ruffled layering at hips. Sharp black lines added a modern edginess to the look. Issue’s signature weaves and handcrafted embroidery were once again in the spotlight and the use of local materials on black tunic evening gowns won loud applause from the audience.
