Hair that could only be made for Heaven

Celebrity stylist Mark Hill introduces his range of products to Bangkok.

BRITAIN’S FAVOURITE celebrity hairdresser, Mark Hill, was in Bangkok recently to present his hair care line as well as demonstrate the very latest techniques in home styling.
The event saw a line of VIPs cough up Bt50,000 for Hill to style their hair as a way of raising funds for charity and they were all thrilled with the results. Hill shrugged off the compliments, saying that it’s never too hard to have sexy, wearable hair day every day and that his secret lies in quality hair cosmetics and heat styling.
That heat styling, he says, is ideal to give a voluminous flexibility to hair that’s flat on top.
“Simply take a section of hair, pull the hair forward, spray with my Big Blow Thicker Fuller Volume Spray then roll it with the heat styler. Leave it about five seconds so that the heat penetrates and when you roll out, use hair clips to lock the folded hair before moving to the next section.
Once this technique has been applied all over the hair, take off the clips and spray with the heat protection spray or an anti-humidity product to add extra thickness and volume. Finally use comb and fingers to add fullness.”
Hill, who has won a wealth of awards over the years including “Hairdresser’s Hairdresser of the Year”, has created red carpet looks for pop stars, TV presenters and actresses, among them Michelle Pfeiffer, Kate Hudson, Sandra Bullock, Myleene Klass, Tess Daly and Joanna Lumley but stills feel happiest when working with his team at his salon in the village of Kirk Ella in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
He also recognises that most people don’t have the money for regular salon visits, so it’s important to be able to create the look at home with affordable, salon-quality hair care products
Prapaphan Ploysangnam, merchandise and marketing director of Boots Retail (Thailand), which stocks the products, says that his philosophy and techniques are being introduced here though a series of video clips. “This will inspire Thai women to give themselves gorgeous and glamorous hair at home every day. The clips will be available at the Boots Thailand Facebook page all this month,” she says.
Hill adds that his global status as the “Master of Sexy Wearable Hair” derives from the idea of creating hair that every girl wants: easy to wear with a glamorous edge.
“I think every girl wants to enjoy her femininity. It is about having a haircut and style that you can easily handle on a day to day basis. To me, it’s about having fun with your hair and that’s why I have given such fun names to my products as Defrizz-illicious, Love Big hair, Straight-A-Holic and Colour Blast. Even the packaging has fun elements. My philosophy is all about wearability, the style that looks good on each individual,” he says with a smile.
