Among those getting free tickets for the visit of a Spanish team considered one of the world’s best are about a thousand children from the ThaiBev Football Academy (TBFA) project and its partner clubs.
“We hope to put a smile on Thai faces through football by bringing in Barcelona to showcase their skills against the Thai team at Rajamangala National Stadium. In addition, we want to hand our children from the TBFA and all of our partner football clubs – Thai Premier League and Divisions One and Two – the opportunity to watch both the game and [Barca’s] training session.
“These include the kids from the ‘Chang Everton Junior Cup’ and ‘Chang Mobile Unit’ projects. The event will inspire them to learn technique from top-class players in order to improve themselves further,” said Surapol Utintu, executive director for Thaibev Marketing.
“We hope to play our part in giving Thais and our children happiness with the chance to watch such a historic game. It will be a unique experience for them.”
The Spanish champions are due to arrive in Thailand on Monday. The same night, ThaiBev will hold a charity auction featuring photos taken by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Spain, and donations of mementoes by Barca players. Proceeds will go to the Royally Initiated Border Patrol Police school, which gives children living along the border proper facilities to learn and play football.
