After all, it takes a very strong moral character for a patriarch to put the country’s best interests above that of his clan, especially when money is no problem. As it is, the authorities have not only allowed the alleged killer to remain free, but to go overseas – even though, as rights lawyer Warin Thiamjaras said, “Any ordinary suspect would have been indicted long ago.”
But consider His Majesty’s wise words: “To make the country function well, seniors in the country should set good examples for others to follow.” The Red Bull clan is among the most senior in Thailand. Are they being the good example, the role model, that you, dear reader, would have your children look up to? Even the red shirts, who love to shout, “No double standards!” are silent when a lowly cop is killed. Are you, dear reader, also mute – or will you speak up so that justice will not only be done in this case, but be seen to be done? Or do you have to wait until somebody close to you is the victim?
