Who's been sleeping in my bed?

Bedding and home decor store Aussino offers some great ideas to jazz up the sleeping chamber

WE SPEND ONE THIRD of our lives asleep so a comfortable bedroom is vital. If you’re not sure how to turn your bedroom into a relaxing escape, Aussino – Australia’s leading home fashion textile brand – is transforming its showroom on Chidlom Road into a gallery of design ideas and has drawn on the help of several celebrities to suggest the very best in bedroom therapy.
Inspired by her son, actress Sopidnapa Chumpani presents the playful and imaginative Superfan bedroom theme that’s ideal for a child.
“It’s a decor that’s inspired by dramatic stories, films, cartoons and games as well as the places you like most,” says Nontakarn Dapparangsi Ng, the managing director of KNKN Retail, Aussino’s distributor in Thailand.
“The Superfan style concentrates on vibrant colours – bold and bright shades – that give off a refreshing feel. Bed sheets and covers with the same theme as your favourite decorative items and furniture makes the room right for you. Adventure and fantasy elements like sheets printed with characters from a fairy tale will make your kids eager to go to bed. Proper lighting and thematic light adjustments add to the ambience,” says Nontakarn.
Both Intira Thanavisuth and couple Ploenchan Vinyaratn and Prinya Ruenprapan came up with a Dramatic Bedroom that combines different styles, patterns and textures to create a cohesive look. Like a theatre, the bedroom becomes a contemporary and thematic space where bedroom materials, furniture and other decorative items are perfectly mixed and matched.
“Elements such as bed linen printed with large, eye-catching patterns, uniquely painted curtain fabrics, individual lamps in different areas or just a sparkling chandelier, plus a large patterned carpet, offer a dramatic yet intimate mood. The overall atmosphere can be modern, country or urban chic depending on what you prefer,” Nontakarn explains.
Ausana and Kamolsuth Dabbaransi bring the Perfect Summer ambience to their bedroom. Ideally suited for Thailand’s tropical climate, it features bedding sets in plain colours as well as naturally cool and comfortable materials. It’s best to choose premium quality fabrics made from long–fibre cotton such as cotton sateen or cotton silk, or bamboo fabrics that give extra soft and smooth touch and cooling elements. Fine pillow and blanket fillers like seven–hole polyester or bamboo fibre create added comfort and better air circulation. Add a vibrant touch with colourful chic picture frames, a stylishly designed lamp or a vintage sofa.
Natprapa Choonhavan opts for extra comfort and cosy living with the simple but clever Classic Glam bedroom. This combines beauty and luxury through the use of meticulously embroidered bedding fabrics. Materials can be gold or metallic yarns to give a glittering touch, or printed in metallic tones to add extra luxury. Stylish picture frames, a crystal mirror, round or rectangular throw pillows, patterned wallpaper and a small designer sofa with a metallic sheen bring balance to the bedchamber.
Nontakarn also suggests the Traditional & Pattern classic style, which uses warm colours and complementary bedding sets printed with the same tiny pattern and pairs them with diamond, check or triangle wallpaper for a restful and calming atmosphere.
The Entertainment Centre style bedroom creates a cosy environment to enjoy viewing movies and listening to music in bed, Bedclothes should be made of soft and silky materials – natural or synthetic fibres – to give extra comfort.
