Double standard in govt's treatment of rubber farmers

Again, PM Yingluck applies double standards, this time in handling farmer protests.

When northern rice farmers protested against her cutting her rice support price from B15,000 per tonne to B13,000 to stem the scheme’s ruinous losses, she promptly raised the white flag. But when Nakhon Si Thammarat rubber and oil palm planters demanded that she extend the scheme to cover their crops, she quickly came to her economic senses and not only refused, but through the governor, ordered the police to disperse the protesters, injuring 43, including five cops.
To begin with, ma’am, you should have policies that benefit the country as a whole, not like the rice scheme, which The Economist called “(the Yingluck government’s) worst and most costly policy”. Then, you should apply it to all crops, regardless of which party’s members grow it.
As the red shirts are fond of demanding, “No double standards!”
