New clothes from old garbage

Good news is difficult to find lately. I commend the Sustainability page in The Nation yesterday. It is heartening to know that the Industry Ministry has awards for companies promoting sustainability.

It was good to hear about Pruksa Green Living Community Campaign creating a green and fruitful environment. The encouragement given to children by the Chevrolet/Save the Children Fund initiative to distribute footballs to disadvantaged children in Thailand is excellent.

The Taiwan company manufacturing millions of blankets and clothes from recycled materials is to be commended. That the items are distributed by the Tzu Chi Foundation to victims of disasters inside and outside Taiwan sets a great example to other institutes in other nations. I was struck by the counterpoint of people dressed in garbage looking like new clothing with Stephff’s cartoon of the prime minister in her green mamba-Thai silk ensemble.
