Sustainability: people versus money

The virus currently incubating within specific sectors of the hospitality industry has germinated from greed, the demand for rapid growth and a sickening approach to CSR and human rights.

Initially, a defective cross-fertilisation is triggered when the hosts – international hotel brands colluding with unscrupulous local owners – approve building designs that do not fit the legal, social or ethical environment they are intended for. This is the “Fundamental Lie” that creates the bleeding ulcer.
For the bug of deceit to flourish, these corporations blatantly and intentionally flout due process and ignore due diligence under the cover of weak and fraudulent contracts. This is the “Fundamental Cover-up”.
The Fundamental Lie generates destructive and illegal actions that contaminate the brand and contravene rules and regulations throughout the total operating framework. This is the actual “Killer Virus” that attacks the natural capital of individual companies and the hospitality industry at large.
Once in existence, the pandemic is criminally concealed by corporate boffins to the detriment of regulators, investors, other stakeholders, local residents, discerning customers and inexperienced travellers. This is the “keeping mum to deny the truth for as long as possible” tactic, employed by all shady business tyrants and bullies who function behind the fragile security of their own egotistical protective clothing.
Ongoing high levels of corruption place Thailand as a perfect breeding ground for this kind of internationally cultivated toxic duplicity. Those expecting high levels of corporate responsibility within the prevailing hospitality-industry model are recommended a strong course of immunisation that includes home confinement, reality counselling and the healthy advice to sell affiliated shares immediately.
