A new notebook in Acer's Aspire range, the E1-470PG is great for working and watching movies
A 14-inch notebook computer with touch-screen function and good performance, the Acer Aspire E1-470PG is powered by Intel Core i5-3337U 1.8 GHz and equipped with 4 gigabytes of DDR memory and 500 GB hard drive. Its graphics horsepower comes from NVIDIA GeForce GT720M with 2 GB of dedicated video memory.
The Aspire E1-470PG runs on the Windows 8 64-bit operating system. It uses a 14-inch HD display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and its multi-touch screen makes most of Windows 8’s user-interface.
I found the screen was responsive during the test and had no problems sliding and scrolling with my fingers. If you prefer the conventional touchpad interface, the E1-470PG also provides one and it also supports multi-touch.
Although GeForce GT720M graphics adapter with 2 GB dedicated video memory allows the E1-470PG to handle normal games and casual games, it’s not suited to 3D graphics-extensive games. The notebook’s full-size keyboard is easy to type on, so you can use it to work on Microsoft Office documents comfortably.
The Aspire E1-470PG comes with an HDMI port so you can user it play HD movies on your large LCD or Plasma TV. It has two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port and a memory card reader.
Measured with the internal benchmarking tool of Windows 8, the Aspire E1-470PG got good scores in most categories except the desktop graphics performance.
On the scale of 1.0 to 9.9, it got 6.9 points for processor’s performance of calculations per second.
It got 5.9 points for both the performance of memory operations per second and the performance of disk data transfer rate.
It got only 4.6 points for the desktop graphics performance though it did earn itself 6.3 points for 3D business and gaming graphics performance.
Aspire E1-470PG (53334G50Mnkk) retails for Bt24,900.
