“They have a new singer now, so it’s not appropriate,” Bee said on TV’s “Woody Talk”, in his first appearance on the popular chat show.
He explained how exactly it came to be that he left Crescendo. “I was voted out!” Evidently he wasn’t joking, but Bee was quick to add that bygones are bygones. Meanwhile when he guest-stars at other people’s shows and fans ask him to sing Crescendo songs, he’s happy to deliver. “The band was loosely formed. It’s not like we were all together since the beginning, so it was okay for me,” he said.
Bee considers himself lucky to have the steady support of top people in the industry. Leading songwriters including Boyd Kosiyabong and Prapas Chonsalanond have composed tunes for him and, thanks in part to that, he’s as popular as ever.
He had some big news for “Woody Talk”: His first full-scale concert of his own, not as a guest singer, is set for Sunday. “It’s my first solo gig in 15 years in the music business and I’m putting every effort into it.”
Catch him in “Natural Born Singer” at Bitec Hall 106 in Bang Na at 6pm Sunday. “I wouldn’t want anyone to miss it!” he said.
Film the homemaker
It looks like singer Rattaphum “Film” Toekongsap has everything squared away before he leaves for the US next year to get some extra vocal training. For one thing, he’s finished his Bt50-million house in Lamlukka, Pathum Thani. “It takes up two rai and that’s why it cost a lot. I haven’t moved in yet but my parents have. Yes, it’s big, but I wanted to do it to please myself.”
Apparently he wasn’t scraping the barrel for the financing. Film has more than Bt100 million invested in a residential development project in Phuket. “I got into it three years ago with four partners – the money’s all from my savings,” he says. Miracle Lakeview covers 66 rai and should be finished next April. “So far we’ve managed to sell 70 per cent of the units,” he says.
But real estate certainly isn’t a signal that he’s withdrawing from show business. He’s still keenly focused on entertainment, which is why he’s taking a break for more professional grooming, both as a singer and as an actor. Building homes is just a matter of assuring financial security. “People don’t realise that I work every single day non-stop,” he says.
He admits that he still regrets being involved in a headline-churning scandal – when he was accused of fathering a child. It cost him gigs and income as well as fans, he says. “If I hadn’t run into trouble, maybe I wouldn’t have to work so hard.”
