Hugh Walford sees no bias in the judgement against Thaksin in the court case after the coup. After guns were drawn, tanks rolled out, and the Constitution was torn up, and with absolute power in the hands of the coup makers, Mr Walford insists that the process of justice against Thaksin is not compromised. I find that as hard to believe as the statement by Mr Walford, that, “There was no tearing up of the Constitution in arriving at a verdict.”
Mr Walford has studied the case against Thaksin and has presumably arrived at his opinion after considerable deliberation, but on the subject of the legality of the coup, he has strangely reserved judgement, begging off by saying, “It is not for me to express any opinion.” In one fell swoop Mr Walford brushes away the 800-pound gorilla and instead focuses his attention on the sideshow.
