BANGKOK’S TWO Doi Tung Lifestyle shops have filled the shelves with handcrafts and utensils fashioned by skilful artisans in Chiang Rai. They’d make ideal gifts for the holiday season.
The Doi Tung project earns admiration for its pursuit of sustainable design. Its craftsmen combine folk wisdom with modern technique while keeping the designs simple yet stylish. Nothing is wasted in the production, a boon to the environment.
A perfect gift for an older loved one would be the Simpleasy ceramic teapot and cup set, or perhaps hand-woven cloth Zigzags bags. There’s a wooden tray that’s ideal for serving tea in a Western-style ceramic pot that comes with three cups, coasters and a jar for sugar or cream.
