ANYONE WHO missed out on the visually stunning and phenomenally successful Sensation party in August, its first in Thailand, has been granted a second chance. But tickets are already selling fast for “Wicked Wonderland”, the grand follow-up on February 1.
Some passes are still available for the return of the massive indoor electronic-music bash presented by ID&T of the Netherlands. This time it will be at Bitec in Bang Na rather than the Impact complex in Muang Thong Thani.
Launched in 2000, Sensation soon became one of Europe’s most elaborate and anticipated music parties. Events were subsequently staged in the US, South Africa and, starting this year, in Asia. The first Asian tour began in Bangkok and Thai party animals – usually scornful of costume themes – were happy to adhere to the all-white dress code.
In February Bangkok will be the third and final stop on the second Asian tour. Bitec, the huge convention centre at the foot of Bangna-Trat Road, will be “turned into a white fairytale world with the astonishing Wicked Wonderland show”. The dress them is again all-white.
“Together with Heineken we’re ready to rock Bangkok again,” the organisers say in a press release.
“To add an extra magical spell to this year’s event, we are introducing exclusive Heineken Platinum Deck tickets,” adds Pattapanee Ekahitanond of TAP Trading, which makes and distributes the beer here. “They give privileged access to a deck with the best view of the show, as well as complimentary food and beverages and an opportunity to get up close and personal with Wicked Wonderland’s characters, not to mention exclusive parking and the chance to rub shoulders with Thai celebrities.”
This “modern fairytale” doesn’t sound quite like what Walt Disney had in mind, but then Uncle Walt wasn’t much of a dancer. Some 17,000 people are expected to embark on a thrilling voyage of discovery to a magical world of mysterious and sensuous secrets.
There will be world-class performing artists, acrobats, stunning laser effects and thunderous dance music courtesy of the Sensation DJs.
“Heineken Presents Sensation: Wicked Wonderland” is set for Saturday, February 1, at Bitec Bangna.
Passes cost Bt3,000 (Bt4,500 for deluxe access) at www.ThaiTicketMajor.com and (02) 262 3456.
