The scales of justice tilted

The ruling by the Constitutional Court doesn't surprise me. Three of the judges in the majority were also responsible for drafting the current Constitution and they supported the concept of a half-elected, half-appointed Senate.

Moreover, this is the same court that applied the law retroactively to ban the Thai Rak Thai Party. This court also had to pull a definition from a dictionary – rather than a law book – to disqualify prime minister Samak Sundaravej. This same court, after one year of consideration, acquitted the Democrat Party of election fraud on a technicality – the Election Commission filed the complaint too late!
If political parties were football teams and the Constitutional Court judges were referees, spectators would wonder why every other team except one keeps getting slapped with yellow and red cards and even banned from the pitch.
What Parliament ought to do now is amend the Constitution to dissolve the Constitutional Court, or at least impeach all the judges.
