RS to launch World Cup channel

RS will launch a new "World Cup" channel to televise all 64 matches of next year's soccer World Cup finals in Brazil.

According to Surachai Chetchotisak, the CEO of RS Promotions, which holds the broadcasting rights of the Cup in Thailand, more than Bt150 million will be spent to broadcast the event on the new channel, which will be operational from next June.
People, who want to follow all the 64 matches in the World Cup, need to subscribe to the channel with a single payment for the whole tournament. Surachai said the details of the subscription fee would be revealed later.
The World Cup channel besides live matches will have contents such as pre-match analysis and post-game reactions, which fans can watch 24 hours a day.
Surachai said 22 matches would be aired on free TV, Channel 7 and RS Channel 8, statring with the opening ceremony and the curtain-raiser match on June 12. The company will also televise the draw for the group stages featuring 32 teams via RS Channel 8 and Sun Channel La Liga on December 6.
