Western media blind to truth about Thaksin

Re: "Message to the editors of the Economist, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and other Western media", Opinion, November 22

I refer to this excellent article by Khun Pornpimol Kanchanalak.
Thaksin appeals to the West because of his vested interest in corporate Thailand, which he is ready to share or sell to foreign countries for personal benefit. This is evident if you look at the free-trade agreements he has signed and his recent willingness to compromise in a territorial dispute with Cambodia in a bid to clinch an offshore-gas deal. These issues are at the heart of the current political crisis, along with the much-publicised amnesty issue.
Distorted Western reporting about Thailand is a problem that could be resolved by thorough investigation of Thaksin and a comprehensive understanding of the political situation here. Do this, and the West might take the position that Thaksin should be brought before the UN court for crimes against Thailand.
