I feel sorry for Yingluck. She is like Blackbeard’s little sister. The pirate has deserted the ship pursued by the law and left her in charge with a galley full of slaves pulling the ship forward, a scurvy crew and officers intent on changing the laws of navigation.
Recently there seemed to be instances of the prime minister departing from the Pheu Thai script. During the censure motion she missed opportunities to make progress to get things back on track. It was interesting that she said of Thaksin’s confiscated money that we must abide by the decision of the court. She claims a people’s council is not legal under the Constitution, but she has presented to His Majesty the King a bill to make changes that the court ruled to be illegal. She needs to be more consistent in her statements.
Her foreign minister has said he can issue Thaksin a diplomatic passport if he wants to. Yingluck is surrounded by people who think they can do as they darn well please. Let her start now by saying, “I’ll kick off by cleaning out the Pheu Thai stables.”
She should believe, to paraphrase Jerome Kern, “Nothing’s impossible and pick herself up, dust herself down and start all over again.”
