Examining the exhibits

Top fashion from up-and-coming designers comes to a new multi-brand store in Thonglor

INVITED TO A party but having nothing to wear and no time to dash into the centre of town to pick out a new outfit? Fear not, the latest street designs are available at Exhibit, a new multi-brand store conveniently located in Soi Thonglor.
Open for just a week, the store is designed to look like an exhibition hall and is stocked with funky outfits, fashion accessories, jewellery and home decor items created by new-wave designers from around the world.
It’s the brainchild of Ratchada Chaiyachote, a London College of Fashion graduate who is determined to build a new hub for fashion lovers.
“My aim is to offer lifestyle items rather than mass-produced brands. Exhibit is a concept store that I hope will serve as a playground for fashion lovers. They can come here to have fun mixing and matching various street wear items. I also want to introduce up-and-coming young designers as well as little known labels from Finland, New York, London, Brazil, Australia, the Philippines as well as Thailand.”
Taking up a large area on the first floor of Eight Thonglor lifestyle mall, Exhibit features three distinct zones. The first is home to shoes – lots of them – from shimmering high-heels and slip-ons adorned with diamond dust designed by fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni.
Also on show are two-toned leather loafers and diamond-dusted high-heels from popular Finnish brand Minna Parikka.
The centre zone boasts silver racks hung with trendy one-piece swimsuits and bikinis in animal prints from Australia’s We Are Handsome.
A group of young designers from the UK’s Three Floor label offer a range of eye-catching embroidered sweaters in textiles that facilitate ventilation.
Popular New York brand Reason Clothing has tees, caps and bags screened with such messages as Homies and Ain’t Laurent with Yves.
“People want more variety,” Ratchada says. “They want to be different. Very few people ask me about the brand or where the outfits come from. They’re only interested in design and quality.”
Other highlights include geometric leather bags by Angel Jackson, handcrafted rattan bags by Kayu, vintage-style sunglasses from Karen Walker and fashionable costume jewellery by Mawi and Maison Muscovy.
The home decor zone is ruled by the House of Hackney with a great selection of chic wallpapers, pillows and ceramic mugs.
And soon customers will be able to sup while they shop: Rachada is planning a coffee corner with fresh brews, healthy juices and home-made macaroons.
