For just Bt8,000, Fuji's CP215w offers remarkable technology and convenience
The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint CP215w is an affordable S-LED colour printer that supports wireless printing and is easy to use.
With its low price and its photo-like printing capability, CP215w could be your home printer for your children to print school homework papers or your home office printer.
It can also function as a network printer with Ethernet or 10/100BaseT and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connections.
With the Wi-Fi connection, CP215w can be easily set up for your home network’s convenient printing. The printer does not have to be located near your computer but can be placed anywhere with access to the signal of your home Wi-Fi router.
During my test I found that connecting the CP215w was a breeze. It has a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) push button. I simply pushed the button and then pushed the WPS button behind my Linksys EA4500 router and the connection was done without the need to key in the Wi-Fi password of the router.
The CP215w print razor-sharp text and photo-like colour photos thanks to Fuji Xerox’s award-winning Sled (Self-Scanning Light Emitting Diode) and Delcis (Digitally-Enhanced Lighting Control Imaging System) control technology. It produces high imaging quality at 1200 x 2400 dpi.
The Sled technology is similar to a laser printing technology but it uses small and intelligent S-LED chips with fewer moving parts so it leads to quiet operation and reduces energy usage.
The CP215w also uses IReCT (Image Registration Control Technology), which is a digital image registration control technology providing ultra high precision colour printing of 2400 dpi. It accurately corrects image misalignments through a digital process.
It also uses a Macs (Micro Accurate Control Screen) to optimise the shape of screen elements in accordance with the image density of the area. This technology offers reproduction of smooth gradations and beautiful highlights.
And the Sled technology also makes the CP215w compact with the size of 394 x 304 x 234mm.
Its EA (Emulsion Aggregation)-Eco toner is a special toner that allows fusing to paper at a much lower temperature, allowing you to save up to 20 per cent power consumption. Fuji Xerox said the EA toner reduces CO2 emissions by up to 35 per cent compared to conventional Fuji Xerox toners.
The printer has 128 megabytes of internal memory and it is powered by a 384Mhz processor. It has fast maximum printing speeds of 12 pages per minute for colour printing and 15ppm for monochrome printing.
While I tested it in wireless printing mode, I found that it took only five minutes to finish printing a page of text and about eight second to print an A4-size colour photo.
I counted the time when the printer had received all the printing data and started printing. But before it started printing it took about 18 to 20 seconds to receive the data via its WSD (Web Services on Devices) processing.
The text page looked very sharp and clean. I tested printing text pages on Fuji Xerox 70-gram paper.
I tested photo printing on IJ Laser Glossy 210-gram paper and found that the photos came out like those you order print from a photo shop, but the colours might be less bright.
Compared to outputs from photo inkjet printers, the output of CP215w is less vibrant in colours but I think the photo quality is okay.
I found that to print photos on wireless printing, you need to resize or reduce resolution of the photos so that the spooling file or the windows container or the printing data would not be larger than 10 megabytes or else the spooling file could not be received wirelessly by the printer.
But it has no spooling file’s size limit when I connected the printer to my computer’s USB port and used it as a USB printer.
Fuji Xerox DocuPrint CP215w has a suggested retail price of Bt7,990.
