Fans 'Always Here' for these girls

Girls’ Generation united the politically divided Thais last Saturday with their amazing world tour concert.

Hallyu supergroup Girls’ Generation took the stage in Thailand for their sixth stop on the 2013 Girls’ Generation’s World Tour – Girls & Peace. Performing at Impact Arena in Muang Thong Thani, the girls were deeply touched by the fan events and the fans’ cheer.

 The tickets of the show sold so fast that ticket-booking website crashed.

Debuting in 2007, the girls rose to stardom with the 2009 hit “Gee”. Recently the girls caught the world’s attention by winning the top honour award Video of the Year for “I Got a Boy” at the inaugural YouTube Music Awards.

The audience cheered loudly and waved their pink light sticks as the girls kicked off the concert with “Hoot” wearing pink outfits with silver adornments. 

The concert was split into six acts. In the first act the girls performed their dance tracks “Animal”, “The Boys”, “I Got a Boy”, “Say Yes” and “Dancing Queen”.

 During “Say Yes” the fan clubs made it a fan event by uniformly raising pieces of paper reading “Yes!” and “Let me th?nk”, impressing the girls so much that they couldn’t hide their smiles.

 The second act opened with the girls appearing at the top of the stage attired in black tops that had their names on them and flamboyant neon-green and black leather jackets, performing “Mr Taxi”, “TOP” and “Flower Power”.

 Each of the girls appeared on the stage with glittering red tuxedo-like mini-dress in a box for the song “Paparazzi”, in which the light focused on the girls whenever the girl sang their line, after the VTR of the girls being fairytale princesses. The girls came out off the boxes for “Run Devil” and “Reflection”.

For the second fan event, the audience showed their light sticks in a rainbow pattern of blue, green yellow and pink stick for when the girls, in long, white princess-like gowns, crooned the ballads “Promise” and “Baby Baby”. During the latter Yoona, one of the members, was seen getting adorably shy as the audience overwhelmed her with loud cheers.

The girls left the stage again and changed into platinum gold and white blouses with blue tights, showing their renowned beautiful legs. They performed “I’m a Diamond”, “Express 999” and “Tell Me Your Wish” and closed with the remix version of “The Great Escape” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You”.

In the last act the girls sat on a large white stepped cake wearing rose mini-dresses with big glittering hearts on the top, singing “My J”, “Kissing You/Way to Go” and the mega-hit “Gee”. After that the girls asked the audience to sing along on “Complete” as a return favour for their performance. Fans responded by singing the tune in fluent Korean.

The girls closed the concert with “Forever”, during which the final fan event reportedly impressed the girls so much that they cried. Audience members had made a card stunt that read “Always Here”.

The girls rocked the encore with “Into the New World”, “Oh!” and “Twinkle”.
