Music channel You2Play hosts the fourth edition of its annual awards

The You2Play Awards are back for the fourth year and to celebrate the Year of the Horse, the organisers have added two new categories. The new awards are inspired by the ongoing popularity of electronica and social networking, with the first recognising Favourite International Electronic Artist and the second a Favourite Internet Program.
“Electronic dance music, or EDM as it’s called these days, has become much more mainstream in Thailand, as evidenced by the way it has crept into the works of both pop and rock artists. DJ producers are in demand for live shows and are often the headliners at music festivals. That’s why we decided to create a category for it,” says You2Play’s chief executive Noppadon “Jason” Chirasanti. “As electronica has expanded, it has attracted new groups of people and created new genres of music, identities and behaviours.
“The Favourite Internet Program Award recognises the power of digital content and is based in the highest number of likes and views on such social networks as YouTube. The number of likes and views is the easiest and quickest way these days to find fame and also measure the marketing current. We would like to support the creativity and the commitment of an online generation,” he adds.
Noppadon says the theme for this year’s awards – “Neon Circus” - is inspired by the circus, where dozens of artists will hold the audience spellbound as they perform to an enhanced light and sound system and high-tech several effects.
Among those who’ll be on stage are Chiranat “Namcha” Yusanon, the first female artist to shake the stage of You2Play, Mike d’Angelo, formerly of Golf Mike, who is now a mature solo artist and Joke So Cool who will crack gags as well as perform his hits.
The presentation ceremony of “You2Play Awards 2014” is scheduled to take place Royal Paragon Hall on the fifth floor of Siam Paragon on February 11 at 5pm.
Fans can vote for their favourite Thai and international artists at www.You2Play.com until February 10.
