Muangthong United striker Teerasil Dangda has become the first Thai player to sign for a Spanish club after the 25-year-old agreed to join Almeria on a year-long loan starting July 1. The Spanish side confirmed the deal on its website, udalmeriasad.com, a

According to Almeria coach Francisco Rodriguez, Teerasil, who last year had a short training stint with high-flying Atletico Madrid, has good technique, quick pace and can play in several positions. This was why the club decided to take him on loan for a year.
Teerasil is hoping his move will pave the way for other Thai players to pursue careers in the world’s top-flight leagues:
“I will be under pressure because I’ll be fighting not only for myself to get a chance to play in a top league, but also for other Thais looking for opportunities to play in Spain and elsewhere in Europe.
“It’s good that I’ve still got a few more months to play in the Thai Premier League with Muangthong, which will help me prepare physically and gain more experience for the move to Almeria.”
