Bubbles for your sweet

Moet & Chandon adds sparkle to Valentine's Day with a wonderful Champagne dinner at Ku De Ta

Moet & Chandon got a head start of the day of love, hosting a lavish Valentine’s dinner last week as a way of introducing a special weekend romantic treat that also features a great deal on bubbly at the newly opened Ku De Ta on Sathon.
The feast of love preview was a celebrity-studded event, with the likes of Kasidit and Karnchanita Kolasastraseni, Orn-arpa and Nattaset Poonsapmanee, Sirigunya Aksaranan, Sasikarn Apichartworasilp and Dominic Vincent Leong all joining the tables.
The evening, which boasted a glamorous black theme, started with an appetiser dreamt up by Ku De Ta’s executive chef, Jonathan Maza. The minimal yet substantial madai – or Japanese sea bream – was served with a mouth-watering watercress mizuna salad, mangosteen and calamansi vinaigrette and paired with Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial.
The second dish was also fish but served with a different kind of Asian flair. Japanese yellowtail fish, or hamachi, was jazzed up with heirloom tomato confit, sofrito ponzu and petite purple shiso and paired with Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2004. This crisp bubbly has such depth and fruitiness that it really brought out the sweetness of the half-cooked fish while also complementing the sour elements in the dish.
The subtle and softly perfumed Moet & Chandon Rose Imperial was served last with the dessert of yuzu raspberry mousse with almond crumble and black sesame.
For lovers who like their champagne and fine, understated food, Ku De Ta is a great option for a romantic tete-a-tete this weekend.
Maza promises that love will be kindled by his hamachi sushi and Thai-style chilli paste, king crab salad and Asian slaw and the hirame tosa yuzu - an assortment of hearty fluke, crispy engawa, cauliflower puree and sharp, tangy tosa yuzu.
Pastry chef Jason Licker is also getting busy in the kitchen with two special offering: 7th Heaven, a seven layered chocolate degustation and the matcha kokoro, which is a matcha, white chocolate shisho cake made for two.
Tonight and tomorrow, you and your sweetheart can get giddy on six flutes of the bubbly – Moet & Chandon Brut NV, Moet &Chandon Grand Vintage 2002 and Moet & Chandon Rose NV – for Bt6,000. A bottle of Moet & Chandon Rose is available at Bt6,300. And you get to keep two tulip-shaped Champagne glasses for every bottle you order.
Ku De Ta is Bangkok’s newest nightspot. Perched 170 meters above prime Sathorn real estate, Ku De Ta provides its patrons with innovative design, warm authentic service, outstanding cuisine and nights to remember. The lifestyle venue features three separate yet integrated offerings: three restaurants, seven distinct themed bars and two nightclubs all enjoyed whilst savouring the 360 degree view as the backdrop.
