The Srinakarin-based community mall welcomes the latest branch of Jousen Yakiniku

POPULAR JAPANESE restaurant chain Jousen Yakiniku recently opened its latest branch at Thanya Shopping Park and is now inviting customers to upload images of themselves having a meal to Facebook or Instagram and enjoy 20 per cent off their bills.
Jousen, which translates roughly as best selection, is a subsidiary of Miyabi Grill, the pioneer of the low-cost yakiniku (grilled meats) buffet and has been feeding hungry diners in Siam Square since opening six years ago.
Thanya’s branch, which seats 96 diners, is decorated in modern Japanese style and boasts two private rooms as well as a colourful counter.
“We use only the best ingredients and import all our beef and seafood as well as sake and beer from Japan,” says marketing manager Numfon Kongchalalai.
“Our signature dishes include salad Jousen with home-made dressing and Matzusaka and Kobe beef. We’ve added 15 dishes to the Premium Buffet line including Hokkaido Zuwai crab and US beef. Customers also have the choice of than 50 kinds of sake and beer.
Two a la carte buffets are offered: Jousen for Bt489 and Premium for Bt689. Both offer a range of yakiniku, sushi, sashimi, salad, tempura, appetisers, desserts and drinks.
We opt for the 70-minute Premium buffet and order Picked Pork in Pot, Beef and Pork in Jousen sauce, Soft Shell Crab Tempura, Hokkaido Dosu Squid, River Prawn, Hokkaido Zuwai Crab, US Beef Topside, Lamb, Sweet Potato, Mochi Daifuku and Jelly Apple.
We also sample a selection of a la carte dishes including Hokkaido Scallop (Bt250), which is served in a wooden box, tender Kobe Beef (Bt1,800) with home-made sauce, Emperor Sushi topped with chopped toro and egg, Tako Wasabi (Bt100), Engawa Nigiri sushi (Bt100) and Melon Pudding (Bt70).
