Why the Dell Venue 11 Pro is one of the better hybrids around
With a flexible keyboard that easily detaches, the Dell Venue 11 Pro is bound to please anyone who is hesitating between an Ultrabook and a tablet.
It performs well as both, largely thanks to its Intel Core i5-4300Y 1.6 GHz processor and also boasts plenty of working memory with 4 gigabytes of DDR3 RAM. It uses a fast storage of 128 GB Solid State Drive.
Its graphic horsepower comes from Intel HD Graphics 4200 chipset. The graphic chipset powers the 10.8-inch IPS display, which with a sharp resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, is good for watching Full HD movies.
The 10-point capacitive touch screen makes most of the pre-installed Windows 8.1 Pro.
The Venue 11 Pro comes with a full-size USB 3.0 port and with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. With the NFC feature, you can easily connect it to a smart phone or a TV with NFC function to share multimedia content from the computer.
During the test, I found that the Dell Venue 11 Pro had good performance. It played video clips and apps fast. Its touch screen was very responsive and the screen scrolling was very smooth. The screen was bright and sharp and was excellent for viewing photos and watching videos.
The computer took about 15 seconds to start up and shut down instantly when I pressed the shut down command on the screen.
Unfortunately, Dell Thailand is not importing the first generation of Dell Venue 11 Pro for sale here, saying it prefers to wait for the second-generation models. If you are interested in this model, you can order direct from Dell US. Prices start at US$799.99 (Bt25,800).
