Following up the success of its augural event that combined sounds and screenings, “Movie on the Beach & Concert” is returning for a second year on May 10 to Platoo Restaurant & Beach Resort in Cha-Am, Phetchaburi province and this time, organisers say, there’ll be a larger number of free tickets.
“This year, Cha-Am beach will shine like millions of stars,” said Niti Pattanapakdee, chief media officer of Major Cineplex Group, at Tuesday’s press conference at Siam Paragon Shopping Complex. He was joined for the occasion by Vorarat Charoonsmith, marketing director of ThaiBev Marketing, the event’s sponsors.
“Our target is the new generation, whose lives revolve around watching movies, listening to music and spending time on the social networks. We have a large fan base and are in constant contact with them on Facebook, Twitter and Line.”
Movies being screened shown on the day are being selected by popular vote through Facebook.com/MajorGroup and the first 500 voters will each receive two tickets. Another channel for obtaining two free tickets is downloading the passport at www.MajorCineplex.com or Facebook.com/ChangWorld and mailing it along with three tickets stubs and three Chang product lids to Major CineAd, 13th floor Suzuki Avenue Ratchayothin, 1839 Phaholyothin Road, Lad yao, Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900 before the end of this month.
The music part of the event features concerts by pop band Tattoo Colour and Da Endorphine.
“We’ll be playing a movie soundtrack to go along with the event’s but we don’t want to disclose what it is,” vocalist Harin “Dim” Sutumjarat told fans at the press conference as his bandmates Ruzz “Ruzzy” Pikatpeiree, Ekachai “Tonk” Chotrungroj and bassist Thanabordee “Jump” Theerapongpakdee nodded in agreement.
“Our show will be like a party,” Ruzz added. “We’ll be performing a lot of up-tempo and will have the audience up on their feet and dancing.”
Tattoo Colour will also play its just-released new single, “Son Ha” (“Hide & Seek”).
“It is a kind of slow song that has a string section like those so popular in the 1980s. I got the idea from Disney soundtracks that really showcase string instrumentation,” saiod Ruzz, who is also the band’s songwriter.
“As kids we all played hide and seek. The games we play as grown ups aren’t really all that different. Love hides and we are always seeking it.
“The music video focuses on a couple who came on holiday to Thailand and the girl was swept away by the tsunami. Many years have passed but he has never stopped looking for her. If you listen to the song while watching the music video, I guarantee you’ll be sad,” he said.
