Busanan falls to Sindhu in Asian badminton

Busanan Ongbumrungpan's run in the Asian Badminton Championship was snapped by old rival PV Sindhu of India, as she lost her third straight match to the Indian in Gimchoen yesterday.

The Thai teenager won the first game 21-14 but produced a series of unforced errors from then on that saw Sindhu smash out the next two games 21-13 21-10. Busanan had also lost to the Indian in their two previous meetings in the 2012 World Junior Championships and 2013 All England.
However, men’s doubles third seed Maneepong Jongjit and Nipitphon Puangpuapech were still in contention in the South Korean city as they beat the Indonesian duo of Chayut Triyachart and Danny Bawa Chrisnanta 21-14 21-14 in just 20 minutes to reach the semi-finals.
“Nipitphon was playing so well while the opponents made many mistakes, which made it quite easy for us. But tomorrow will be a real test. We have to play with our brain and be very patient,” said Maneepong. The duo meet South Koreans Shin Baek Choel and Yoo Yeon Seong.
