A bystander considered the words critical of Islam and phoned the police. Within minutes, a group of officers arrived and threatened Mr Weston with arrest unless he ceased campaigning. He refused, claiming his right to freedom of speech.
He was arrested on the basis of inciting racial hatred. How on Earth can remarks about a religion incite “racial” hatred? A while ago, Yingluck Shinawatra referred to Islam as a country. Islam is neither a race nor a country, it is a religion followed by many different races of people in many different countries.
It seems the UK and Thailand have something in common after all.
