Safe in the sun with Sisley

Shielded against UV rays, you're free to battle cellulite into submission

Every summer it’s the same dilemma: You want to show a little extra skin, but there are these not-so-small matters of cellulite and harmful sunrays.
So combat begins on those unsightly dimples covering your thighs, the “orange peel” effect, and the search resumes for a sunscreen treatment that will guard against UVA and UVB radiation without ageing the complexion in any way.
French skincare firm Sisley has fresh ammunition for the arsenal: Sunleya GE and Cellulinov Intensive Anti-cellulite Body Care.
“Twenty-four years ago we revolutionised the market with products that not only block the harmful sunrays but also take care of the skin,” says Sisley’s Nicholas Chasnier, reginal managing director Asia Pacific. “Now, eight years after the successful launch of Sunleya, Sunleya GE stays true to its principles, which is to protect and boost natural protection while minimising ageing.”
Chasnier says the firm’s research identified as major factors in skin ageing, glycation and solar elastosis. That’s what the G and E stand for.
Glycation stiffens collagen and elastin fibres and tangles the network of fibres in the dermis. Together these actions cause a loss of firmness. Solar elastosis is responsible for the appearance of deep wrinkles because it too modifies the elastin fibres. An extract of Einkorn wheat and dill is put to work fighting the effects to keep the skin toned and warding off wrinkles.
To this, Sisley adds a sophisticated age-minimising complex. Einkorn wheat again comes into play, fighting free radicals while strengthening the skin’s natural defences and at the same time reducing damage caused by UV rays to cellular DNA. Soy-peptide extract goes after the wrinkles, reorganising the dermis into a protected network. And white willow leaf curbs the activity of the enzymes to boost skin tone and elasticity.
“Sunleya GE includes a new combination of four ultra-high-performance and photo-stable filters that guarantee the optimum ratio between UVA and UVB protection,” Chasnier says. “That means a very broad UV spectrum is covered, even with SFP15 or SPF30. It’s more important than reapplying sunscreen every two hours. This is ideal for the daily routine or even swimming, because it’s water-resistant.”
Cellulite finds a new foe in Celluinov, which contains longan-seed extract, quite effective for slimming, Chasnier says. It bars the appearance of cellulite on two levels, first by putting adipocytes “on a diet” – reducing their nutrition – and second by preserving the extra-cellular matrix to slow the adipocytes’ growth and spread.
Celluinov limits the formation of blood vessels to starve fat cells and then uses an extract of Indian lotus to maintain the protein mesh surrounding the adipocytes. It also regulates the flow of adipocytes by inhibiting fat storage with a red-algae extract, which is rich in marine oligosaccharides. The algae, lotus extract, caffeine and cedrol slow the formation of fat and begin its elimination. Finally, ginkgo-biloba extract, with its firming properties, fight tissue congestion, one of the characteristics of cellulite.
Chasnier recommends applying Celluinov twice a day with firm, upward strokes.
