Adorned in high art

THE ASTONISHING surrealistic paintings of the late Princess Marsi Sukhumbhand Paribatra and the high art of the Renaissance provide the gorgeous inspiration for the “Princess of Art” clothing line from leading Thai fashion brand Anchavika. 

Buyers will find all sorts of ways to express their own personalities in the avant-garde jackets, bodysuits, blouses, skirts and shorts by designer Anchalee Vikasitnakkul. She’s used a mix of chiffon and leather, duchess and net, velvet and denim and cotton and refined lace from France, as well as sophisticated cutting techniques. 

The clothes shimmer with rich embroidery, graphic prints and hand-painted motifs drawn from nature and including stylised representations of animals and women. Buttons take the forms of tiger’s heads, human skulls and peonies, mostly in black but also in summery blue, yellow, gold, bronze and green.
