Designed with social-media uproar in mind, Jamie baited the monkey hordes with a gown that had commentators unsure where to look first – or whether to look at all. The top was basically a skimpy bra with fashionable flourishes, while the long skirt had an immense V shape cut away, revealing Jamie’s even-skimpier panties.
Look at her! Now look at Twitter. Someone is saying, “I know she wants to promote her diet-supplement business, but she doesn’t have to do this much!” Now look at Jamie again. You’re seeing a 32-year-old television actress whose career has faded in recent years. What would you do if you were she? That’s right: Here’s the gown and here are the scissors.
Asked straight up if she was trying to grab attention, Jamie admitted, straight up, “You’re darn right.” And she’s good at it! Absolutely no one else attending the awards show has been mentioned in any media this week, let alone what they were wearing.
With fashion police getting out the handcuffs, Jamie stood firm regarding her strategy, telling reporters she’d spent eight hours putting “the outfit” together (and then pulling it apart). “I believe there’s nothing wrong with it. I’m up for the criticism!” she declared. Criticism has certainly outweighed praise. If fact no one at all has praised Jamie or her dress. One young man has paid tribute, however, creating his own version of Jamie’s gown and posing in it for a photo that’s all over the social networks – look for the hashtag #lowcostcosplay.
Flattery in the imitation? Jamie might instead be a little miffed that this guy has a pretty cool look going on.
Jeeja’s back – and angry
Action-film star Yanin “Jeeja” Vismitananda has spent the past year giving her son Jee-drient a good start on life and now she’s ready to flex those fearsome muscles of hers again. Unfortunately she first has to make them fearsome again – post-natal motherhood has robbed the poor warrior of 47 kilograms and she wants to be perfectly toned before casting around for a sensational film role.
The lucky film doesn’t necessarily have to be a Thai one. Foreign studios are invited to size Jeeja up for work overseas (say, Hollywood, for example). She’s now a free agent, having parted on good terms from Sahamongkol Film, although she says the head of the Thai studio, Somsak “Sia Jiang” Techarattanaprasert, is keeping her in mind for future endeavours. “Sia Jiang told me he’d give me work if there’s an international project, most likely a regional project,” Jeeja says.
This splendid arrangement with her ex-boss also means there’s a decent chance her fans might one day be watching “Chocolate 2” after all. It was green-lighted before Jeeja discovered she was pregnant. Regardless, now that she feels like beating people up again, we only need to wait and see which movie will capture the combat.
