Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana brings her new collection to the catwalk

Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana recently celebrated her pop-up shop at Siam Paragon with a new Pre-Fall 2014 collection that combines male tailoring techniques with the essence of feminine details and underscores the fundamentals of the brand’s DNA
Runchakorn Chaleekrua, the Princess’s personal stylist, notes that 10 years have passed since the talented princess launched her debut collection.
“Princess Sirivannavari has devoted her energy to every detail of her designs and in particular her two shows for the Paris catwalk. Her latest collection stems from the meticulous works for Paris – the Presence of the Past in 2007 and Ethnic Rock in 2008.
Deconstructed patterns and sharp tailoring dominate the collection with shirt cuffs inspired by men’s shirts and a pleated tuxedo for the gals in sexy lace.
Voluminous structures and mixed materials come into play in the geometric jacket, the chiffon top with balloon sleeves, the diaper pants with kangaroo-pouch pockets modified from the Thai jong kraben and a futuristic bustier dress with lacy embellishment. The colour palette ranges through black, white and midnight blue to beige, burgundy to grey. Signature prints are retrieved from the brand’s archive and used throughout the collection to add a feminine touch. They include the X-ray collage, Horse and Peacock Feathers, as well as the Ethnic Rock prints from the spring and summer 2009 collection.
Before the fashion show pens scribbled frantically as Runchakorn offered tips on transforming the Sirivannavari runway look to streetwise threads using just a simple scarf.
“It’s easy to tone down the details,” she said. “You can wind a scarf around the hair, mix and match with a neck tie, or use a large scarf as a choker and create a new stylish dress/”.
