Let me get this straight. The affluent have set up a form of government that does not let the son of a farmer run for public office, let alone the premiership.
They are limited in where they can go and what they
can accomplish. So, they
roll their own cigarettes and drink cheap liquor and karaoke in the streets at
night for entertainment. What else can someone do with a limited future and just enough baht to make it through the year?
So what do the wealthy do next?
Ignorant foreigners are forever calling for an end to street singing and have pushed for smoking laws that prevent them from smoking anywhere but in their paddy fields. The wealthy call for the outlawing of their whiskey.
And yet everyone wonders how the country almost came to civil war.
