Going the extra mile

AIS and A Day join up to organise a run that invites participants to break their limits

Creative magazine A Day and mobile service provider AIS 3G are inviting members of the public to test their limits by taking part in the “Human Run 2014” being held at Sanam Luang on August 31.
The run, on the theme “Break Your Limits”, is divided into three distances: a 5km Fun Run, a 10km mini marathon and a 21km half marathon.
A Day editor Zcongklod Bangyikhan and the magazine’s marketing director Changnoi Kulchorn Na Ayutaya introduced the run at a press conference and invited along a host of stars and would-be runners including Navin “Tar” Yaovapolkul, Phattrapreya “Taton” Younyao and members of modern rock outfit Ten To Twelve, Vasuphol Kriengprapakij, Chanchai Jitpatanapaibun, Torsak Panjasuparak and Pongphol Jongwataraphol.
“We’ve been working on our fitness, running whenever we have time,” said vocalist Vasuphol. “So we should be fit enough for the run. I love the idea of ‘Break Your Limit’, because it means that we will all give our very best.”
Actor and singer Navin is confident he can go the distance. “I’ve signed up for the half marathon of 21 kilometres and am determined to finish the run. If I can do it, I’m sure others can. It’s all a matter of self-control,” he said.
“I might be the daughter of former national team runner Ratjai Younyao,” added a smiling Taton. “However, it will be a challenge for me. I usually only run 4km but this time I’m going for 5.
The activity will also feature street installations created by artists and several teams who will cheer runners as they try to cover the distance. It will close with a show by Singto Numchok.
All runners will take home an “AIS Human Run” medal while the winners in all three distances will receive a trophy and special reward.
