Krirkrit and Suriya get late call-up for Asian Games squad

National football team coach Kiatisak Senamuang has drafted in Suriya Singhmui and Krirkrit Taweekarn as replacements for the two Buriram United players who withdrew from Thailand's Asian Games squad.

The move came after Thai Premier League leaders Buriram refused to release defenders Theerathon Bunmathan and Prathum Chutong for the tournament just a day after Kiatisak had included the pair in his 20-man list.
With the Thai team set to start their two-week training camp in Phuket today, the 41-year-old coach moved swiftly to replace the Buriram duo with Muangthong United left-back Suriya and Chonburi winger Krirkrit.
Krirkrit and Muangthong keeper Kawin Thamsatchanan are included as the Thai side’s only overage players for the September 19-October 4 under-23 tournament in Incheon, South Korea. The competition rules allow each squad to pick three overage players.
