Grateful Ying Lee shares the luk thung wealth

Ying Lee Srijumphon might be trying to establish a distinct contrast between herself and that other headline-grabbing luk thung singer, Sutheevan "Baitoey R Siam" Tavisin.

We usually hear about Baitoey wearing something or saying something designed to knit the brows of grandparents. Whereas Ying Lee is seemingly super-nice.
Ying Lee recently bought a pickup truck for the guy who wrote her hit tune “Khor Jai Ther Lak Ber Tho”. That’s Bt600,000 worth of nice.
It was a posh show of gratitude to songwriter Arjan Boy Khemraj, who Ying Lee credits for her success. Not that she’s shy about being a sweetie. She posted a photo on Instagram of her presenting the truck to Boy. “I hope you and your mum are very happy using this pickup,” she added as a caption.
As her fans were quick to note, Ying Lee only just bought a car for her parents in July, declaring that her family’s happiness is hers too. And she’d already bought her folks a house. So Ying Lee is now known as luk thung katanyu (the grateful luk thung star).

Lot of drama over frocks
Welcome to the gossip columns, clothing designer Saruda “Kung” Nimpitakkul of the Kunitar label! She has arrived thanks to a loud public expression of frustration over “Academy Fantasia” stars Weerakanis “Mac AF” Karnwattankul and Nattapat “Puifai AF” Wipatcorntragoon.
Apparently the kids from the TV reality show failed to show up as promised for Kunitar’s fashion show at the recent Japan Expo Thailand. Kung was “very disappointed” when Mac told her he wasn’t going to do the catwalk thing for her after all. They were “rather close”, she says, so she asked Mac to do the show and was delighted when he suggested bringing along his girlfriend Puifai as well. One week before the event, though, Mac said nuh-uh. Kung says she’d find it difficult ever working with him again.
A rumour quickly spread that Puifai got Mac to pull out of the fashion event because actress Chermarn “Ploy” Boonaysak was going to be on the same runway, and Mac was once said to have a crush on her. “It wasn’t like that at all,” Puifai said when the press confronted her, demanding answers for the sake of national security. “Mac isn’t someone I can manipulate, and anyway Ploy has a boyfriend.”
When the press cornered Mac, demanding answers and citing the people’s right to know, he said he just didn’t feel comfortable about doing the show. “And it wasn’t about money because I work for free!” He figured giving Kung a week’s notice was fair enough and it shouldn’t have wrecked everything like she claimed.
In the end, Puifai spilled the authentic beans by explaining that they’d learned the other celebrities booked for the show were getting paid. They felt that Kung was taking advantage of them, since she’d said nothing about cash. Puifai says she just feels sorry for Mac because he’s been close to Kung for a long time.
And if Kung doesn’t want to work with them ever again, Puifai’s okay with it. “I’m not the one who screwed it. As for Mac, I’ll leave it up to him. They’re close, so they might talk it over. I’m not mad at her, but I don’t know what I’ve done so wrong that she thinks negatively about me.”
