I constantly hear complaints about footpaths being invaded by vendors. The problem is ubiquitous and has existed forever.
If pedestrians quit buying from those vendors, they wouldn’t survive, would they? But if there were no vendors, there wouldn’t be pedestrians in the first place, would there? Let’s face it, pedestrians jam the sidewalks of Sukhumvit and Phetchaburi Road because the vendors are there.
The same is true for the prostitutes in Pattaya. Their main customers are tourists. If tourists shunned them, they wouldn’t survive, would they? But do you think tourists come to Pattaya for stray dogs and dirty beaches?
Meanwhile some want to turn Pattaya into a family-friendly place, but the only way to achieve that goal would be to dress the prostitutes as Minnie Mouse.
