“Dramatic depth and unstoppable character” reads the new slogan for Nars’ Audacious Lipstick and there’s certainly nothing shy about this new range that comes in a spectrum of 40 hot colour shades. It was launched recently with an event at Zen Premiere Lounge that included a masterclass workshop with the brand’s global makeup artist Jane Richardson.
Audacious, Richardson explains, is inspired by the stylish and powerful character of actress Charlotte Rampling, of whom Francois Nars is a major fan.
Unadulterated luxury glides on like satin across skin in a single stroke and better still is made to last thanks to a range of ingredients that soothe and nourish the lips.
Richardson says that when brushing on the colour you should leave lips in their normal position rather than opening the mouth.
“Lipstick should be angled straight to the lips. Apply Audacious Lipstick directly to the centre of the mouth blending outwards for full, creamy coverage,” she says.
“You can use precision lip brush for a more controlled application and those who prefer dark toned or bright red lipsticks can use lip liner to create the frame on the lips.”
There are no firm and fast rules as to which colour best matches skin tone and Richardson recommends that ladies should dare to change colours following their instinct.
Thai women, she says, should select the colour they feel best matches their personality as well as the makeup they are wearing on the eyes and face.
“The best idea is to dress and do your make-up and hair then look at the overall picture before deciding on the lipstick,” she says.
