News of a popular revolt in Hong Kong should serve to warn any government in the world that ruling with an iron fist is no guarantee of success.
In Thailand, the government of Prayut Chan-o-cha should be reminded that it is being tolerated only because so many Thais despised Thaksin Shinawatra and his firebrand, divisive politics.
Hence, reports that a group of National Legislative Assembly members still refuse to declare their assets, claiming the law does not require them to do so, could turn out to be the Achilles’ heel for PM Prayut in the future.
Prayut should deal with this small group of mutineers decisively. If anyone refuses to meet ethical standards, just kick them out!
