Impeachment a dangerous dead end on road to reform

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) should not pursue an impeachment of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra for negligence of duty in her government's rice price-pledging scheme. Why so?

First, the NLA is not elected. It is an interim legal body that was set up to take care of the country’s legal matters temporarily.
Second, to impeach Yingluck would only create more problems, not reconciliation. All past constitutions became irrelevant with the May 22 coup and cannot be referred to or used.
Third, even though the National Anti-Corruption Commission deserves to be commended for a job well done, the NLA can be excused if it chooses not to impeach Yingluck, who is no longer in power anyway.
To sum up, all parties concerned should not let this issue distract them from our country’s ultimate goal: National reform!
