The haunting of Twinings tea

Just in case you thought you might be safe from Halloween frights while sitting down to a nice cup of tea, the Twinings Tea Boutique at CentralWorld has a rather scary menu just for the occasion.

The Jack-o’-lantern makes its appearance in the sweet and crunchy Cobweb Tart (Bt180), which is filled with chunks of soft and sweet pumpkin. The crust is made from flour laced with Twinings Finest Ceylon black tea. It’s all topped off with a fresh blueberry, held in place by a chocolate spider web that’s mimicked on the serving dish. 

The Cobweb Tart goes down nicely with a proper cup of Ceylon tea. Now you can relax.

No, you can’t. The Cheesy Pumpkin Cake (Bt180) is a garish but delicious assembly of pumpkin flesh, fluffy cheese mousse, yellow sauce from an orange, brown sauce of chocolate, red sauce from four different fruits – and Twinings fruit tea. This one has a witch’s hat on top, also in chocolate, and there’s a lovely cup of English Breakfast tea alongside.

The witching hour is indeed approaching, as is the waiter with some Midnight Berry Mousse (Bt180). The dome of mousse represents the whole of the big night on October 31, all soft and light layers like fog in a B-grade horror movie. The sweet and sour flavours come from Wild Berries tea. 

On top is whipped cream and berry gelatin over a bed of thin baked crackers. The dish is decorated with wild-berry sauce and fresh strawberries and blueberries.

A terrific cold tea drink to go with that might be Twinings Halloween Punch (Bt185), a refreshing blend of Passion Fruit Mango and Orange and classic Earl Grey. 

To prepare for making the haunting rounds, have a Twinings Trick or Treat (Bt185), sweet in a deep red-velvet hue. The mild tang comes from Strawberry and Mango Tea mixed with blueberry syrup and lemon juice. The foam on top is a masterly display, cherry scented with a preserved cherry perched like a crown jewel.
