When giving is power

Designers and celebrities join with the Ramathibodi Foundation in raising funds for patient care

We might be more than a month away from the festive season but with leading designers teaming up to help the sick and underprivileged, there’s never a better time to buy.
The “Power of Giving”, a collaboration between the Ramathibodi Foundation partners, Siam Piwat and leading lights of the design and celebrity world, features a range of hats, scarves, T-shirts, umbrellas and notebooks anybody would be proud to own.
It also includes an exhibition showcasing the creations of Thailand’s leading designers, as well as photographs of Thai artists and celebrities with a charitable heart, among them MR SrikhumrungYukol, AnchisaVacharapol, PattarasayaYongratanamongkol, Arikanta “Yipso” Mahapruekpong, Sonya Singha and Getsunova members Prakarn Raiva, Natee Osathanugrah, Panot Khunprasert, and Komkadech Sangwatanaroj. Stylist Siriwong Sukkasemsin of Benedict Studio worked on the honorary models while lensman Thananon Thanakornkarn was behind the camera and Painkiller’s Poomsak Teankaprasith oversaw the effort.
Kloset, one of Thailand’s leading fashion labels, is represented by Nat Mangkang, its creative director and designer. Nat’s “Merry Go Round” pattern signifies how happiness always comes back to those who give, just like how the funds raised by this event will be used to buy medical equipment for needy patients thus returning happiness to their lives.
Designer and owner of Issue, Pupavis Kritpolnara was inspired by a traditional Russian pattern, which he adapted into mysterious and sensual oriental roses fused with classic Western beauty.
Senada’s brand manager Tassanee Preechawitayakul highlighted the importance of coral, a living organism that also serves as a shelter and a safe hideout for marine animals. Likewise, Ramathibodi Foundation is a place that shelters patients, giving them physical help and mental support throughout their illness.
Painkiller adopted the foundation’s tagline “Giving Never Ends” and reinterpreted it into a mini collection titled “Give Love Give Hope”, to highlight the importance of love and hope in overcoming the obstacles. The “Give Love Give Hope” pattern is created using small pieces of cloth, sewn together to form a large piece to symbolise how we can create power and warmth for those who are suffering.
Another participating brand is Disaya. This year, Disaya Sorakraikitikul has designed a hand passing over the heart to portray the beauty of giving, which has always been the foundation’s philosophy.
Last but not least is Anisha Attaskulchai’s successful Lovebird, for which she used patterns from her “Princess of the Sea” collection as a symbol of love.
“It’s the first time Lovebird has joined such a wonderful campaign. I feel very honoured to have been invited to take part,” she says.
“There are many patients who need help in Thailand, and I think that whatever problems I have been through cannot compare to their suffering. If I can be helpful or make them feel happier, I am very happy to do so.”
Celebrity Sonya Singha notes that she really has time to make merit but when she was contacted to model for this special event, wearing Lovebird’s collection, she was happy and agreed to do so right away. “I would like to invite everyone to support this campaign and buy this collection. Fans of these six brands should not miss this opportunity to help both their favourite brand and the patients,” she says.
