Splendours of the sea

High-end cosmetics brand La Mer brings its healing ways to a brand-new space in Bangkok

LADIES! IF you do nothing else before the onset of the festive season, you should treat yourselves to 75 minutes of facial pampering at the newly opened La Mer boutique.
Located at Groove Central World, the new stand-alone store is celebrating its first boutique in Southeast Asia with a Miracle Broth facial treatment that’s guarantee to banish wrinkles and leave the skin looking healthier and younger.
The boutique also offers a range of range of skin-pampering treatments based on its potent products together with skin consulting services. An assorted array of spa menus for all skin types assures a solitary luxury beauty experience.
The brand is well known for its Creme de la Mer, which is inspired by the healing powers of the sea. Aerospace physicist Dr Max Huber began a personal quest to transform the look of his skin after a laboratory accident. He harvested kelp, selected for its endless ability to regenerate. After 6,000 experiments and 12 years of meticulous craftsmanship, Huber perfected a rich, complex fermentation far greater than the sum of its parts, the precious, nutrient-rich Miracle Broth trademark, which is at the heart of La Mer’s profound powers of transformation.
While pricey at Bt8,500, the Miracle Broth Facial gives the skin the energy it needs to renew itself, immersing it in moisture and radiance and revitalising, lifting, smoothing and brightening.
Before the treatments begin, the brand’s beauty professionals – aestheticians as they are called – who are especially trained in a diverse range of techniques and certified by La Mer’s institution in the US, offer a consultation. The client is also asked to select the “Sea Symphony” of their preference from several tunes inspired by the ocean.
The treatment begins with deep cleansing with the aesthetician scrubbing the skin then prepping it with treatment lotion to enhance absorption and the potency of the nutrients. To further moisturise the skin during each spa treatment, the aesthetician will gently spray the mist – a lightly scented mineral extract that soothes. Pure Miracle Broth is then applied to the face with massaging techniques to stimulate rejuvenation and effectively reduce fine lines.
The aesthetician then tenderly massages around the eyes with a specially designed applicator to boost blood circulation and reinvigorate the skin. Creme de la Mer is then massaged onto the face and left to form a mask, while the aesthetician switches between massaging with the hands and magnetic tuning forks. This energises and refreshes the body, increasing the skin's ability to restore itself.
This is followed with another massage to lift the face for more dimension and decreases fine lines.
Also on the menu is the Purifying Facial, a basic course that detoxifies the skin and preps it for maximum potency before the next treatment. The Radiance Facial is designed for those with dull skin tones or who are suffering the effects of sun and pollution.
