Winter wear for the wild side

Levi's new Made and Crafted line draws on the natural surroundings of the Pacific Northwest

When Levi Strauss and his partner Jacob Davis patented a new style of working trousers back in 1873, they had little inkling that they were starting a revolution in casual clothes that would spread to every corner of the globe.
Now the makers of the best-known denim jeans are building on that simple legacy with a new line of premium casual gear dubbed “Made and Crafted” that uses the best materials and construction techniques and is guaranteed to delight even the most fastidious fashionista.
Levi’s Made and Crafted is more edgy that its sister Red Tab brand. The separates are fashionable and perfect for mixing and matching, with shirts, jackets, multi-colour chino pants and the Iconic Levi’s blazer looking great both separately and worn together.
Designed for the modern man and women, the collection is made from premium quality denim that is woven in the USA, Japan and Italy. Cashmere and silk yarn are meshed with cotton and wool to create wearable luxury and each garment is cut, sewn and finished using the best methods. Even the shirts are hand-sewn using single needle construction.
Emphasis is also placed on the details with, for example, the buttons fabricated from compressed cotton, bone and wood. The Levi’s “Arcuate” is stitched behind the pocket –gradually appearing with wear. There can be no allergic reactions either with as only real indigo and other natural dyes are used.
For its autumn and winter 2014 collection, Levi’s Made and Crafted teamed up with American art and culture publication “Wilder Quarterly” to create an exclusive range of clothes that weave together the styles of both these brands. The collection draws inspiration from the contrast between city and mountains and the indoors versus the outdoors.
The design team worked with a range of contributors on this project to explore the details of the garments and the natural surroundings of the Pacific Northwest.
The new line is available at Levi’s Vintage Clothing store on the third floor of Central Embassy.
